The idea of Bovieran comes from Goran Mellberg, a famous Swedish manufacturer, who conceived a residential microcosm for a new lifestyle for the seniors, developed around the theme of social interaction. The result is a multi-residence building with common areas designed to facilitate socialization, set around a large garden habitable throughout the year.
The project is based on the principles of repetition and industrialization: prefabrication, bathroom pods, glass roofs and glass walls, in order to control the production costs.
From the first project, in 2009, 17 Bovieran were built in different cities in Sweden.
The building develops into horseshoe shape around the central "greenhouse", the heart of the system: 1600 square meters of controlled-climate winter garden. To allow outdoor living, the garden maintains a controlled and regulated temperature and humidity throughout the year (17-18 ° in winter, max 26 ° in summer) by means of 90 large ventilation grilles. The large glazed windows of the building capture the heat of the sun, that is then accumulated in the concrete of the plant and accounts for 80% of the heating in the apartments.
Initially all Bovierans consisted of 48 high-level apartments, divided into 4 types of different sizes, developed on 3 floors with large balconies on the outer sides. Since 2018, the new develompents increased the number to 55 units each. The interiors are finished with oak parquet, high quality kitchens complete with all comforts, bathroom with ceramic floors, washer and dryer with the possibility for the final user to customize the finishes.
Common areas include a bowling alley, a community room and a fitness room. The entrances are monitored by cameras and apartments are equipped with anti-theft alarms.
StercheleGroup, with a multi-year supply agreement with Skanska Sverige AB, the main contractor in most of the projects, has contributed with the production and supply of n. 715 lightweight bathroom pods with different finishing levels for 14 different Bovierans (Borgholm / Eskilstuna / Falun / Helsingborg / Landskrona / Sala / Skövde / Strängnäs / Vänersborg / Växjö / Karlstad / Salem / Staffanstorp and Svedala)
The use of bathroom pods produced off-site allows the industrialization of the building process ensuring the best compliance with the expected quality minimizing the problems of the workfield.
